On Wed, May 16, 7:00pm – 8:30pm, 2012, Transition Ferndale will be learning about co-ops. The meeting will be held at the Ferndale Library, 220 E. Nine Mile Road, Ferndale, MI  48220.

Deborah Olson, executive director of the Center for Community Based Enterprise, will be speaking about the nuts and bolts of organizing a co-op, and making it successful. She’ll try to give us an idea about what works and what could work, and how much commitment, both money and time, it takes from the people who start up. In addition to the general reasons co-ops are a good idea, she will point out examples of successful co-ops in this area. If you are having a tough time finding a job, perhaps this is a way to create a job for yourself.
