Transition Ferndale will be meeting at the Ferndale Public Library, 222 East Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, MI, at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 20.

For this meeting, we will have a presentation from Virginia Shannon, representing Environment Michigan. She’ll be talking about their public outreach efforts and accomplishments of the last year, as well as a program coming to promote and expand solar in Michigan. Questions and discussion will follow.

Environment Michigan works on lowering mercury emissions from coal-fired electrical plants; promoting fresh local foods from sustainable (not industrial) farms; protecting the Great Lakes (and all the thousands of pretty good little lakes in Michigan); creating more clean energy such as wind and solar; and similar issues. There are two different sides of the organization. There is a tax exempt part that does research and another that tries to influence public policy.

All Transition Ferndale meetings are free and open to the public. You need not be a Ferndale resident to attend. Anyone interested in creating a sustainable local economy is welcome.
